Anyone else on Miami Boys Choir all over their TikTok fyp? The internet is going nuts for these videos of a tween boys choir from 2008… Extremely niche, but after one video I was hooked too. That David Hershkowitz has charisma!

Going Once… Going Twice… 🖼

The world-famous auction house Christie’s has launched its own NFT marketplace, Christie’s 3.0 (get it? Like Web 3.0?) on the Ethereum blockchain. Christie’s has been quicker to step into the world of NFTs, compared to its high profile peers. The auction house initially made a splash with the sale of Beeple’s Everydays: The First 5000 Days in March of 2021. The NFT, a colorful collage of images, sold for a stunning $69 million. This was a turning point for the NFT world, and for traditional art auction houses.

The new marketplace will launch with a collection by 18 year old artist and activist Diana Sinclair, called Diana Sinclair: Phases. The collection consists of 9 NFT’s in the form of multimedia images, that represent the idea of transformation. The pieces are estimated to begin auction priced between 4-8 ETH (about $5,500-$11,000), but once that bidding starts, you never know what could happen.

The launch of Christie’s 3.0 signifies a bridge between NFTs and the legacy of luxury art. The 255 year old auction house known for famous sales of Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons, George Washington's personal annotated documents, Picasso’s and Da Vinci paintings alike, is now planting a flag in Web3 with its own NFT marketplace.

Women in Web3 👩🏻‍💻

Forbes

Michelle J. Reeves is the founder and CEO of Mavion World, a Web3 fashion company that offers physical fashion items, digital assets, and royalties for NFT holders. She is an outspoken advocate for women in business, and is committed to onboarding more women into the Web3 world.

Reeves started off in the fashion industry with an ecommerce brand called Accessory Junkie, curating unique accessories made by independent designers around the world. In 2018, she began transitioning into Web3, and Mavion was created. The first Mavion NFT collection featured Accessory Junkie items, offering purchasers a digital art piece to accompany their limited edition accessory.

Mavion’s most recent NFT drop, The Collectables, was a collaboration with designer Rebecca Minkoff. The collection launched in July of this year, and featured 5 NFT’s that gave holders a lot more than just an asset for their digital wallets. With The Collectables NFT, holders also received a limited edition Rebecca Minkoff bag, a Mavion accessory, two tickets to fashion week, a $500 cryptocurrency card, and access to two free mints in their second collection launching in October. This collection is a prime example of the various utilities NFT’s can offer to create value that goes beyond finances - a physical collectible, a digital collectible, and in-person experiences.

Reeves has done a lot more than just talk about her wishes to see more women in the Web3 space. At a road show she hosted in March, she set up 2,000 women with crypto wallets, and provided educational lectures on Web3. She is working to get more women into Web3 through by creating projects that women can relate to. In an interview with Forbes, Reeves discussed one of the reasons why women aren’t adopting Web3 as quickly as men - most investment in Web3 lies within men’s interest. “The six categories that women show most affinity for are family, travel, wellness, fashion and beauty. Those core interests translate to web3 but they are not being met.” Her goal is to encourage more investment around projects that interest women, making Web3 a more desirable place for women to explore.

Depop Sellers of the Week 🛍

Ex-Girlfriend Shop - Okay first of all, this name is fire. Secondly, they have some of the coolest accessories I’ve seen of any seller - vintage Dior sunglasses, Hello Kitty Y2K styled purses, those Von Dutch trucker hats. Everything you need for that nostalgic Y2K look.

Galaxy Thrift - If you’re into quirky jewelry, or just want something fun for a holiday, this is your spot. Anything you could imagine putting on a pair of earrings or a necklace, they've done it - ghosts, little spoons, strawberries, even a tiny painting of Van Gogh's Starry Night. A perfect gift for that art school friend.

Magazine Collector & Elegantly Papered - These sellers have some rare vintage magazines for the nostalgia-obsessed. This 1997 British Vogue edition with Princess Diana on the cover is pretty iconic.

The Return of Wolverine 🐺

Hugh Jackman announced in an instagram video this week, that he will reprise his role of Wolverine in the next Deadpool film. In the video, Ryan Reynolds joked that he didn’t have anything to make the next Deadpool installment stand out, so he asks Hugh Jackman if he wants to play Wolverine again. If you don’t know much about Hugh Jackman, you should know that people LOVE Hugh Jackman. Listen to his interview on the Tim Ferris podcast where he talks about discipline and his daily routines. He and his wife read out loud to each other every single morning… and that is the most wholesome thing I’ve ever heard.

Until next week!-Juliette
