Anthony Hopkins -  adds NFT creator to his legendary resume đź’Ż

Anthony Hopkins announced his NFT project - The Eternal Collection - this week and the visuals are striking. It features 10 animations of digital renderings of Hopkins’ face, each as a different impression of the human form - the Hero, the Rebel, the Magician, the Sage, the Ruler, the Explorer, you get it. The NFT’s will each come with their own exclusive utility ranging from in person events access to receiving an audio file of Hopkin’s talking about his ideas for the project.

What interests us most about this project is the fact that Anthony Hopkins is 85 years old, an Academy Award winning actor, director, producer, artist, dad, has been knighted by the Queen of England, and now wants to get into world of NFT's. In an interview with NFT Now, Hopkins talked through his thoughts on starting the project, “At first, I was nervous [about creating them], but you’ve got to get on with it.” He went on to say, “Try everything… At any age. Don’t be limited by age. You can do it. There is nothing to win, nothing to lose. Just do it.” Many people will say they don’t understand this NFT world, and feel hesitant to step into it. Anthony Hopkins’ approach to trying new things in life is something we should all take to heart. There will never be a perfect time to try something new, and if you wait for that perfect time, maybe you will never end up doing it.

here to cure your movie night indecisiveness 🍿

Peanut Butter Falcon - This movie tells the story of a young man with Down’s Syndrome making friends for the first time on a long journey through the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Shia Lebeouf and Zack Gottsagen become “bro dawgs” in this authentic and heart-warming story. This movie is an example of how powerful representation on screen can be when it’s done right. The film rallies behind the experience of Zac’s character for his personality and journey, beyond just his disability.

White Girl - Brace yourself for this one. A college student moves to New York City mainly to party and experience “grungy city life.” The story follows Leah who is, you guessed it, a white girl, who gets herself involved in the affairs of a drug dealer she has a thing for. It’s honestly a lot of fun to watch, suspense, sex, existential questions about the wider issues of race, class and gentrification - all of your regular popcorn movie stuff.

babes in my headphones 🎧

Remember M.I.A. Paper Planes forever ago? She's back with a new song Popular, and once again it feels like she's way ahead of her time. Watch the music video and let us know what you think!

Emails I Can’t Send has been out for a few weeks, and Sabrina Carpenter delivered with deeply honest songwriting, saying out loud the thoughts we all have, with eloquence and wit. This is the first album she’s releasing outside of her contract with Disney, and wow is our girl embracing the freedom to say what she really wants.

real influencers in the metaverse 🤖

Lil Miquela

dot.la

Do you remember the first time you saw this half avatar, half human, perfect looking face? People were losing their minds on Instagram trying to understand Lil Miquela back in 2016. Cut to several years later, we kind of get it now. Maybe she’s meant to be a social experiment, or a reflection of the way our society values women, commentary on perfectionism - something like that. Whatever the motivation behind it is, Lil Miquela has established herself as a legitimate influencer and she certainly has a genius team curating her image. And now she has signed a deal with Pacsun to be their virtual spokesperson in the Metaverse. Would you buy something because a virtual avatar influencer was wearing it? It feels like half of influencer culture is trying to move toward being “real” and “authentic” online, and at the same time there’s growing popularity and money flowing toward concepts like Lil Miquela… But I gotta say, there is something kind of lovable about her.. look at those perfect freckles!

depop sellers of our Y2K dreams đź’–

@gigiclothingg - whoever is running this store just gets it. Give us the tube tops, halters, the denim skirts, and sprinkle in a few rhinestones. This shop is perfect for someone that just wants to dip into the Y2K fashion, but isn’t about to go full-out and commit to Ed Hardy and low-rise jeans again.

@hausofsoup - this store is giving early 2000s teen who’s trying not to get in trouble for wearing a “belly top” to school. They have everything from little spaghetti strap tanks, embroidered denim and of course those iconic super mini skirts.

@vampmadi - for the girlies still listening to My Chemical Romance and ACTORS, this store has Y2K pieces with an emo touch. Tiny plaid skirts, black velvet, graphic tees with blue flames. What more could you want?

the dogist

I finally found the perfect career and the guy running this Instagram account has it. He finds dogs on the street and asks their humans about the personalities of their dog and then has a photoshoot with them. *sigh* It’s hard to see someone else living out your dreams… He also has an online shop that supports funds for animal welfare. Tell all your dog-lover friends!

Talk to you next week!-Juliette
