a futurists guide to high fashion 🔓
Could NFT’s change the world of high fashion? We’re starting to think they might. This week saw the first collection drop by a crypto native luxury fashion brand called 9dcc. The collection is fittingly titled Iteration-01; consisting of sleek black T-shirts subtly branded with the 9dcc logo. We’ve seen this before, high fashion brands charging high prices for plain looking T-shirts (I see you Valentino). So what makes this different?
The seamless incorporation of a physical and digital element to the collection is the first of its kind. Purchasing a piece of this collection gets you an NFT that works as a voucher to get the real thing. Why not just get the shirt without an NFT? The digital ownership element provides the ultimate stamp of authentication for collectors and re-sellers alike.
Sneakerheads, listen up because you’re going to like where this is going... Upon purchasing a shirt and getting an NFT “voucher” with it, you can choose to “vault” your new piece. Maybe you don’t want to wear the real thing right away because it could go up in value, and you’d rather keep it on ice until then. Your physical item will be held and its value will not diminish for being “pre-owned,” as it would if you bought it in a store and brought it home. You can then sell your vaulted piece to someone else who can face the same dilemma of whether to cash in and wear the real thing? Or vault it for the future?
Who came up with all of this? I’m glad you asked. NFT thought leader, industry disruptor, educator, and designer who goes by the alias Gmoney did. He’s more than a futurist, he’s also a cool guy, and sat down for an interview with our founder Alexis last week that you can watch here! Gmoney is someone who knows and loves fashion himself, so his integration of technology in this brand reflects how fashion-lovers embrace product. He gets it. In fact, he recently vaulted his own pair of Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 sneakers.
Limewire is back? 🤷🏻♂️
It’s true! That website that downloaded viruses to your family's shared desktop computer is back with a whole new look. The new Limewire isn’t just for streaming music, it’s now a music NFT marketplace. On the new platform, fans can buy and trade NFT’s for access to pre-released music, graphical artwork, digital merchandise, backstage footage and even IRL experiences. Artists like Travis Barker, Nicky Jam, Brandy and Dillon Francis are already on the platform. The best part? Limewire wants to remove common barriers to entry for novice NFT buyers. The platform won’t require crypto wallets and will accept credit card payment. It will be interesting to see how quickly these artists can get their fans onto the platform when they make it this easy to get started.
Women in Web3 👩🏻💻
According to a study by Gemini, women only make up 26% of crypto investors at the moment. There is a major disparity between the number of men and women venturing into Web3, and we think that should change! In this new segment of the newsletter, we will profile women making waves in Web3.

This week we want to tell you about Krista Kim. She’s an artist known for her zen digital art in a signature gradient-style. Looking at her art puts me in a peaceful state - and that’s her goal. Kim is the founder of the Techism movement, a movement rooted in the vision of “the creation of a free, humane and great digital civilization.” In her Techism manifesto, Kim discusses how the nature of the digital revolution has transformed our culture. Digital elements like social media’s hyper focus on “connectedness” have actually caused a dilution of real human connection. She believes that artists should play a role in bringing humanity into our digital world, and thus bring people together.
In her mission to cultivate a culture of humanity, Krista Kim creates art in a “meditative design,” conducive to meditation and healing. Mars House is a visual masterpiece on a Samsung display, created as a relief from the real world. Kim states, “I want screens to be used as mechanisms of pure consciousness, like a digital Zen garden, in our world of relentless distraction and data pollution from our digital devices and social media platforms.”

Kim’s resume in Web3 also includes the creation of a 1:1 NFT to be auctioned off with the final Aventador Lamborghini and producing gradient styled trunks included in the Louis Vuitton exhibition touring the world titled, “200 trunks, 200 visionaries.”
Krista Kim is a true visionary, who sees the ways we can use technology to make a brighter future for humanity.
while you wait for House of the Dragon ep 2 🧝🏼♀️
Echoes - This new Netflix thriller is about twin sisters who have been secretly trading places for years. Until one of the sisters mysteriously disappears… Michelle Monaghan plays the sisters, and she is my favorite actress to see in a thriller/horror movie because she has totally mastered that “I’m terrified” facial expression.
Never Have I Ever - The third season just came out for this hilarious coming of age show about a high schooler named Devi. Each season narrates the characters’ thoughts with a different famous voice - they’ve had tennis player John McEnroe, comedian Andy Samberg, and even supermodel Gigi Hadid narrate a character. It’s not just a teen story, it dives deep into the dynamics of Devi’s South Asian immigrant family, and her journey of creating her own identity amidst it all.
comic strips for grown ups 💥
AlecwithPen - I’ve been following this guy on instagram for a few years. His comics have a lot of dark humor - he currently has a Midnight Justice series about an asshole Batman. His other comics are sometimes about his childhood, and a realistic pov of a kid figuring things out with anxiety and depression. On a completely separate note, he will sometimes watch horror movies and bring you along the journey in his instagram stories scene by scene and it’s actually riveting to watch.
Butlikemaybe - Arianna Margulis has a Lizzie McGuire-esque cartoon alter-ego, who’s that relatable single girl in the big city. She’s had some recognition over the years and has a really funny book out!
